Quaran(Tiny) Guide to: Tomatoes
Welcome to the sixth edition of Quaran(Tiny) Guides, which we are sneaking in just as summer comes to a close.
Hopefully where you are tomatoes are still in abundance. Apologies to those of you where climate change may have brought some unanticipated early snow, or coated your tomatoes in a dust of wildfire ash. Speaking of which, this zine is free to download but if you want to direct some dollars to a good cause, many farmworkers and farmworker families have been severely impacted by the wildfires in Washington, Oregon, and California. Organizations like Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste, Causa, Equitable Giving Circle, United Farm Workers, and Northwest Justice Project are working to support these communities, including providing farmworkers who are putting their lives on the line with the proper PPE to help protect them while working in hazardous air quality.
Back to tomatoes… if you’re like us, you just might eat most of them raw with a little olive oil, salt, black pepper. Basil for extra points.
But if you’re looking to go a little further, we rounded up some of our favorite tomato recipes to take advantage of the final tastes of summer.
We have the zine available in two formats:
If you want to print the zine at home and fold it together, download this one. All you need is 8.5x11” piece of paper and a printer. Never made a one-page zine before? Here’s a video that breaks down the process, and there’s a visual guide here.
If you would like to download the zine to access on your computer or phone, download this one.
Quaran(Tiny) Guides are small, simple collections of recipes and how-to that we think are worth sharing. The intention is not to be an extensive resource, but instead to offer up simple tips in a straightforward format, that hopefully inspires a little creativity in the kitchen. Check out all the editions here.
Quaran(Tiny) Guides are free to download, and to help us keep making them we would love it if you considered supporting us on Patreon.
